About Me

I am a Registered Professional Counsellor and a Master Practitioner of Clinical Counselling in good standing with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA).  In addition I am also a member of the Canadian College of Professional Counsellors and Psychotherapists, a certified Life Coach and a CPCA qualified Clinical Supervisor.

I approach both coaching and counselling from a client centered perspective.  I am informed in a variety of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy,  Occupational Awareness First Responder Trauma, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy and others. Techniques I use include active listening, psycho-educational discussions and training, learning and practicing new coping skills, non-violent communication, identifying and transforming core-beliefs, and goal setting using the client's perspective and needs as the foundation for therapy.

Like you my life is very full, with lots of ups and downs, grief and loss, love and laughter. I've been married, divorced, a single mother, re-married, raised 3 children, one of whom is classified as special needs, although I always just considered each of my children special. Being a working mom, I've struggled with how to balance being an active partner in a loving relationship, with career, parenting, raging menopausal hormones and how to not loose either my sense of humour or myself, while trying to live up to my self imposed standards of perfection. Any of this sound familiar ?

Meet Lady, my trusty assistant.

She is a rescued dog who is healing from PTSI (Post Traumatic Stress Injury).  Lady had a rough beginning, but with lots of love, patience and understanding has been able to change the reactive behaviours that she no longer needs and that weren't serving her.

Lady loves to help people.  She's always willing to come into sessions to sit and support those going through a tough time.

As a life coach and registered professional counsellor with 25+ years experience working in health care, including emergency room experience I bring a lot to the table.  I work with people to identify and walk through life limiting beliefs and fears to enable them to live from a place of joy and passion, rather than fear of failure. This work is as challenging as it is rewarding for both of us.
